Prof. Richard Bergman, Chairman of the Science Advisory Board, is the creator of the standard model of diabetes (the "Bergman minimal model"). Dr. Andrew J. Drexler is founder of the New York Diabetes Program in New York City and is on the faculty of the NYU Medical Center. Dr. Douglas A. Melton is the Thomas Dudley Cabot Professor in the Natural Sciences at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University.

Dr. Richard Bergman, is Chairman of the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at the University of Southern California School of Medicine in Los Angeles. He is the Chairman of the Company’s Scientific Advisory Board. A leading expert on the physiology of diabetes, he has received numerous honors including the prestigious 1989 Lilly Award from the American Diabetes Association. His laboratory will examine the physiological status of diabetic animals treated with Islet Sheets and will be involved with clinical studies as well.

Dr. Andrew Drexler is Head of Diabetes Team Associates in New York City and Clinical Associate Professor at of Medicine, NYU School of Medicine, New York City. He received an M.D. from the New York University School of Medicine and did his residency and fellowship at Washington University, St. Louis in Endocrinology and Diabetes. Presently he holds faculty positions at New York University School of Medicine and Cornell Medical College. He is a clinical advisor to Cerco Medical.
